I’m pleased to announce that Zhang Jian is joining Feeling Software starting next week. Zhang is an accomplished Maya API developer, with many years of experience developing popular plug-ins such as MuscleTk (http://www.cgtoolkit.net/muscletk.htm), normal mapping tools, and a hardware-accelerated volume renderer integrated in Maya (details at http://www.imaginecube.com/ and http://www.zjprogramming.com/). Zhang will initially focus on supporting ColladaFX for Maya.

Feeling Software is pleased to be contracted by Autodesk Media and Entertainment to improve the 3ds Max C++ exporter, based on the IGame library and to write a new 3dsMax C++ importer for COLLADA, based on our previous works.

Working closely with Autodesk Media and Entertainment and leveraging our COLLADA expertise, this new contract will bring to 3ds Max users a much faster COLLADA importer and in the spirit of collaboration, inter-operability between ColladaMaya and the 3ds Max COLLADA translator should improve greatly.

Announcing Beta 1 of Nima (Novodex for Maya)

We are pleased to announce that Nima, the Novodex plug-in for Maya, is reaching the Beta 1 milestone and will next week be disclosed to selected artists and developers for further testing and feedback.

Nima allows artists and developers to author and interactively manipulate complex physical assets including rigid bodies and constraints. For some movies of Nima in action, please follow this link:

http://www.feelingsoftware.com/Files/Nima/nima.html

Novodex, also known as PhysX, is a Physics engine designed for high performance games and applications, as demonstrated by the large number of game studios who adopted it for their next gen titles. Nima is meant to expose as much of the power and performance of Ageia's Novodex engine, yet it will also provide full support for upcoming interchange standards like Collada Physics. Novodex is also integrated in other DCCs including Softimage XSI and Discreet 3DSMax.

For more information and to become a beta tester, please contact me.
