Feeling Software Brings 3D Surveillance to Life with ASIS Demonstration

Interactive Demo for Omnipresence 3D Surveillance System to Be Featured at Feeling Software’s Booth #4231 in Anaheim, California

Montreal, Quebec, Canada; September 16, 2009 – At ASIS 2009, Feeling Software will make the promise of an advanced 3D video surveillance system come true.  Visitors to the Feeling Software’s booth #4231 will be treated to a special interactive 3D surveillance demonstration, with actual footage from an ongoing pilot deployment at Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal, a major Canadian university.  The pilot program is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Ecole Polytechnique may be remembered by most security professionals as the site of a 1989 school shooting that tragically took the lives of 14 female students.  This terrible event prompted the entire educational and technology industries to join in the search for more innovative solutions to maintain the highest standard of security in keeping our children safe.

“For the Ecole Polytechnique security department, an important concern is the ability to follow a moving, armed suspect from camera to camera, live, in the case of an emergency” said Joshua Koopferstock, Director of Marketing at Feeling Software.  “Omnipresence 3D Surveillance provides the flexibility to easily track a moving target throughout any secure environment.  This raises the level of security for students, teachers and staff.”

Mr. Koopferstock added that many large security environments such as universities, airports, retail centers, entertainment venues and cargo shipping facilities that host very large camera networks experience similar difficulties in effectively making use of full capabilities of a large scale surveillance system.  Feeling Software’s Omnipresence ASIS demonstration will provide a solution to meet those challenges.

Omnipresence Overview

Omnipresence combines video surveillance with advanced 3D graphics technology.  Through partnerships with surveillance industry leaders including Pelco, Genetec, Axis, and Milestone Systems, Omnipresence integrates with the video management system (VMS) to receive live and archived video feeds.  These videos are projected inside of a 3D map of the facility in their real locations.  In understanding the spatial relationship between all cameras, Omnipresence removes the complexity of operating large-scale surveillance systems.  With its scalable architecture, Omnipresence allows a security professional to visualize and optimize their use of an unlimited number of security cameras over vast areas (entire facilities and cities).

About Feeling Software

Feeling Software is driven to advance security technology for improved public safety and private security.  With its 3D and Mobile technologies, Feeling Software broadens the reach of the video surveillance ecosystem to new levels of accessibility and context. Montreal-based Feeling Software was founded in 2005 by brothers Christian and Guillaume Laforte.

Prior to developing technology for security, Feeling Software applied its expertise in 3D graphics to contracts with technology leaders such as Google, Adobe and Epic Games and the Canadian Space Agency in the geospatial, simulation and video game industries.  In 2002, Christian was the recipient of an Academy Award as a key member of the team at Alias-Wavefront that developed Maya, used today by the majority of the film industry.
